1/X:
Mini thread with some thoughts and hopefully constructive criticism on the extension of the @gitcoin CLR grant round by 3 days.
I have a lot of respect for the work @owocki @vsinghdothings, @notscottmoore and others are doing. My goal is to see this experiment succeed.

2/X:
Yesterday I was taken by surprise to see that the CLR match round was extended by 3 more days.

I consider this a big change in the rules of the game. Especially when the round has been saturated for 2 days already in all 3 tracks.

3/X:
What is saturation?Best explained looking at an example.Look at a screenshot of the @rotkiapp grant yesterday and today
In what would have been the last day we got 13 new contributors who more than doubled our donated amount!
Despite that the CLR match estimate dropped.

4/X:
What does that mean for the donors? Mismanaged expectations. They see that 1 DAI will increase the matched amount by 41 DAI, but in truth it won't.

5/X:
What does that mean for the admin of a grant?
It means change of plan and even further shilling.
No action means faster acceleration in the CLR estimate drop.
Getting more donors means only a slowdown (but not a stop) in the CLR estimate drop.
This is exhausting.

6/X:
It also boils down to this:
At this point it's hard to justify asking donors to use @gitcoin grants. CLR matching no longer works after saturation
A direct donation works better:
- Requires only 1 direct transaction -- no contract calls
- Has no Gitcoin fee

7/X:
I will write up a more detailed criticism and feedback for both the extension and some other problems I have noticed with the grant system in a blogpost once the round is over here: https://blog.rotki.com/
Again, I want this process to improve hence the criticism.
