While neighbouring countries were efficiently responding to the virus, what was Duterte doing?

As Duterte ignores the gravity of the COVID-19 situation, his administration fails to act quickly and effectively.

Instead of addressing the issue of COVID-19 as a public health concern, Duterte utilizes full police and military force on the false basis of peace and order. Meanwhile, high-ranking public officials who seriously violate protocols are given the benefit of the doubt.

The government chooses to go after competent local executives instead of focusing on disaster mitigation, public health, and the welfare of the Filipino people.

The Duterte administration fails to deliver aid and support to Filipinos on time, as deaths continue to rise and poor communities are neglected. Despite the increasing casualties and lack of testing kits, asymptomatic government officials and their families get tested.
