It COULD look like families w/kids in isolation struggling to get their jobs done,recognising that paying for childcare is a luxury which shldnt be for the few(recognition)-writing to yr MP to lobby for childcare provisions (ACTION)-creating lobby groups(sustainable action)
it could look like those isolating alone forging friendships w/those who commonly experience loneliness(elderly) - lobbying MP for more care in the community funding - creating community groups(virtual->real) to combat loneliness
It could look like those who are suddenly aware of the struggle to get their shopping done on budget recogning that Universal Credit was NEVER enough - lobby your MP - join/create a local community group (starting in your area) to support other families
It could look like those in employment - aware of how lucky they are to have 80% of their salaries - lobbying their MP and company for better terms for the key workers (cleaners, catering, security) - creating groups in which their concerns become your concerns and acting on it
If you currently are blessed enough to have regular income, it could mean doing a shop and 1/4 - and dropping off those groceries to your local foodbank -learning about their struggles and lobbying your MP to ensure large companies making ££ right now are giving back (amazon etc)
if you or a loved one have had to be treated for COVID or otherwise,clapping for the NHS is great,but lobbying your MP for greater funding going forward is essential. No longer tolerating cuts to our health service. The power to change is with us, right NOW
If you or loved one have benefited in any way from key workers-where BAME grps over-rep-ed-you can take a firm stance against racism and demand respect and pay for them commensurate w/the importance they have always had and ESP have now.Fair contracts, fair wages, protection->MP
if you're struggling with mental health and suddenly realise how vital MH support is, you can join online support groups, lobby your MP collectively and ensure proper funding for these services going forward ->ACTION
If you're suddenly realising how VITAL the arts are because you spend 10h/day on a TV binge - that fine - but now recognise the artists making the films/TV/music - write to your MP about art funding - perhaps your company has a pot of money for 'philanthropy'-direct ££to the arts
If you now realise the importance of green spaces and parks for us ALL,look into protecting them and providing them for ALL - write to your MP, look at how you and/or your company can enhance green spaces in the capital - pick a cause, and rally for it
Do you suddenly feel like you're incredibly lucky compared to the rest of the world?Lucky means privileged-it means you have landed a golden ticket&with it,the power to influence your representatives (MPs)to create an internationl response to this crisis which leaves noone behind
This means whatever you would want for yourself, you want for others. And that means donations (sure!) but also active lobbying for UK fashion companies to honour their contracts so millions of Bengali seamstresses dont end up destitute-Write to your Fav fashion brand-take action
