Can we clear something up in this herd immunity/suppression debate?

There is NO evidence that "herd immunity" would emerge if covid_19 were to become endemic. None whatsoever. Firstly because it's a severe disabling SARS, and secondly because immunity persistence is uncertain.

For the government to have touted herd immunity as a viable option while so little was known about this disease was grossly irresponsible. The painful effects of that early view (based on what science?) are now being played out in ICUs around the country. An inquiry is needed.
