For the first insight, we start with the goal kick. We want to play out from the back by principle because that's the way you're in control in #PositionalPlay. But even if we are pressed high up, this can be an advantage by setting an “offensive pressing trap”. (vs Odense BK)
We invite the opponent to press in order to be able to build up without numerical superiority but with positional superiority (through positioning or making runs). The key is the simple "pass&move-rule" and making an offer in behind the opponents pressing line. (vs Werder Bremen)
"Dynamic space occupation" because we basically want a player not to stay in space, but to arrive there. As a result, he has a lot of time & space on the ball. The opponent has to constantly adapt his pressing structure to our runs, so we are always proactive. (vs St. Pauli)
Because we build up in a numerical inferiority, we have a fewer number of players behind the ball for rest-defence. But because of the runs into the center and interior channels we are close to the opponent for counter-press in case of a bad line-breaking pass. (vs Dresden)
By overloading or underloading certain zones in the field, we can determine which spaces are free for runs. If the opponent doesn't react to our overloads and remains zonal, they're outnumbered. We not only use the dynamic cast, but also traditional #PositionalPlay. (vs Chemnitz)
It is important that we always have the thought of playing deep first. If that's not possible we have to prepare it. Behind our short-pass-play, runs & follow-up actions must be an intention. If it is possible and there is already a free man between the lines - pass it to him!
Conclusion:
- Play clean from behind to take control & short passes to dominate.
- Better to arrive in space than to stand there.
- Use your opponent's high press for offensive pressing traps.
- Possession of the ball must have the intention to score goals. Play the ball deep if possible, break the lines.
- Manipulate the opposing pressing structure through positional adjustments and runs.

Tomorrow we will continue with build-up play. We look forward to your thoughts!
