THREAD: Working from home yesterday morning, I heard a thump outside my window. A squirrel had fallen out of the tree in front of my flat and into my downstairs neighbour's sunken patio. 1/5
We watched it desperately trying to escape, but the walls were too high and sheer for it to get out. It was quite upsetting to watch. We tried tying a blanket to the railings above the patio, to help it climb out, but it seemed to distrust it, and hid under the decking. 2/5
We don't know our downstairs neighbour - and when we've tried knocking on their door, they haven't been answering. So they probably had no idea why their insane neighbours had hung a blanket into their patio... or thrown cashew nuts onto it. 3/5
This morning, we were relieved to see the squirrel was still moving around, so on our morning exercise around a nearby park, we picked up a massive fallen branch and walked it back home. We lowered it into the patio, and tied it to the railings. 4/5
I set up my mobile phone as a motion sensor and hoped for the best... and just now - this happened. We were, needless to say, pretty excited. SQUIRREL IS FREE! 5/5
