What makes a logo great and what kind of logos are there?

Basically, there are only 3 types of logos. I'll dig into each one of em and show some brands that made that type work.

~THREAD~
The first type is the Wordmark.

You've seen em all. It's just the name of the brand, but it looks cool/modern and you remember it.

Think about Google and Coca Cola.

It's the easiest kind of logo, and the kind of logo people are most familiar with.

You know THIS is the brand.
The second type is the pictorial type of logo.

THIS works wonders. It's basically a logo with the name of the company linked to it.

Look at target and apple. You see this? You know exactly what brand it is.

It just fits perfectly.
The third type is the type everyone is probably aiming for.

ABSTRACT ICONOGRAPHY

It's what Nike is known for.

Fun Fact: The Nike swoosh was NOTHING when it was first drawn.

It's how Nike associated the swoosh with being athletic and getting the athletic achievement you want
