I love a good font. Here are my top 3 fonts that I see in geoscience journals. Short thread.
(Comic Sans is not one of them)
Journal of Geology uses a font called "Trump Mediaeval". I love it. Has beautiful combinations of rounded and straight lines. Is it round? Is it angular?
For example, look at the top of "a", that clipped curve.
Love it.
Economic Geology uses "New Caledonia" which excels in the capital letters. Look at that R - how classy! And the J stands out so much, reinforcing whatever statement the text has. The "fi" ligature is so smooth.
American Journal of Science went for "Baskerville". Just look at those numbers! You can imagine a 19th century poster for a theatre (or theater tbf) using them.
Really makes you feel like you're reading some kind of ancient widsom.

That's enough font nerdiness for now.
