im sorry ini thread bakal panjang banget. i just have to say what im feeling right now, cus twitter might be my only platform to do so hehe. i promise (esp. to myself) that this will be the last rant about ltmpt utbk decision just so i can continue to focus on studying wkwk.

one last rant. and if you want to skip this, please do, i have no intention in making this viral or noticed by ltmpt. just purely an expression of mine.

first, i will accept and try to adapt to what ltmpt has decided. i have no problem in transitioning my focus for the next 2 or 3 months to studying tps for utbk. i have no regret studying hours of tka subject even though it will not be useful for ubtk, atleast mandiri will.

and i think a lot of my friends share this feeling; “ah yaudah bisa apa, kita berusaha aja” and i salute them.

second, i do not agree with people bitching TOO much to ltmpt, nor do i agree with people instantly agreeing to ltmpt just because they are “dosen” and we are “camaba”. we need to give credit where credit is due, we need to discuss, and address the issues at hand.

if the discussion only ends at “mereka ahli lebih paham” then we won’t ever get the closure, nor the info we deserve. i think there needs to be check and balance, transparency, and certainty, and we can only get those while having a healthy discussion.
both sides are tired yes.

no one expected this pandemic and we need to compromise. but name and shaming ltmpt or condescending our role as “camaba cengeng” will not provide those. we dont need this useless civil war. we need to rather focus on the things that matter.

(though i agree online petitions are useless stop).
now, there are several questions that need answering. these questions (i personally think) will help us accept and understand this policy.

1. How will the TPS looks like?
2. is TKA important?
3. Why the rush, ltmpt?

issue (1); i think is the one asked more rn. because after the shocking news yesterday, numerous rumours are passed around the internet. “oh TPS nya buat FK bakal lebih susah”, “oh TPS nya bakal kaya SAT”. it’s expected really, because after a drastic change, -

there needs to be a similar degree of change in strategy of facing this “competition”. and only after ltmpt confirms this, the unclarified news and hoaxes about this will stop, and the panic will be handled better. screw it, i think saying “modelnya sama persis kaya kemaren” -

or “bakal ada perubahan, agak dimiripkan SAT, tapi keseluruhan buatan kita” or saying “belajar pake SAT atau soal tahun kemaren tetep bakal kepake” is much better than going radio silence. we need ANY kind of info at this point.

issue (2); is the most debated because this is the most drastic change of the policy. and we need to assess this from both Uni and Camaba POV. is it important? several camaba fellas say this is important, because this will be a form of training or exercise to prepare studying in-

college. While this may be true, I don& #39;t think this is the most urgent reason. Because I can say exactly the reason why we go to college is to study,we will be provided some sort of basics there anyway. What I think is more important though, is UTBK role as a method of selecting-

individuals for colleges. Look, frankly speaking, I think TKA is the biggest differentiating factor for soshum and saintek. That is to say, TKA provides barrier to people that haven& #39;t studied soshum to go apply soshum studies and vice-versa. If you& #39;re inherently genius,sure it-

will be easier for you to study soshum or saintek, but atleast there needs to be effort of studying that subject matter first. For example in Econ, sure you may be able to rationalize what does barang elastis/inelastis or pasar persaingan sempurna/monopoli means. But atleast you-

need to KNOW the formula of calculating COGS or Marginal Cost before you can be better than people that have studied econs for the last months or years.

this is i think the biggest weakness of TPS. is that it heavily rewards people with “talent”. because i personally

think that TPS focuses on language, comprehension, and logic. things that i think awards people with higher IQ or talent more. sure like I said, TKA can also be affected by talent, but i think at least they need to put in effort.

now i’ve heard several friends saying that this-

policy draft on making utbk as only TPS has been proposed before all this. I recalled someone mentioned that the reason why this is the case, is because TKA does not reflect the academic achievement of students in colleges.

that is to say people with better TPS score have a higher tendency to have better IP scores, achievements, etc in colleges.

now if that is true, then the question is this; does Uni prefer people that have put in work? or people with better “potential” and “talent”?

because if the answer is the latter, then why do we even bother? why not just have an IQ test and call it a day? obv i feel it will be more fair if we reward effort more.

issue (3); is the background of all this mess of a condition. I think if ltmpt PR prepared better, we wouldn’t have all this. Why the rush, ltmpt? i know we’re all in a pandemic and we need to compensate. but YOUR OWN system of selection, UTBK, is supposedly the most ideal,right?

Why do you bother cutting so many corners (TKA removed, only 1 chance of test etc) of a system that you’ve built? We HAVE postponed the test from april, why can’t we postpone camaba test and acceptance date just so we can have an ideal test? make the semesters shorter.

We CANNOT predict when will all this be over, but atleast we can make sure that the selection runs as intended. yes this is an emergency, but why chose this option instead?

and i might add, that i feel like a complete information is much better than rushed information. the reason why ltmpt announced it yesterday was because they “want to make sure the public know as soon as possible”.

but i think we wouldn’t mind waiting for 3 more days, or 15 more days, as long as all are complete. the form of questions of TPS, test’s time limit, and the conditions of each prodi, etc
