Foreign unis send students a list of emotional phases in a WhatToExpect vis a vis culture shock, being away from home etc. I think it's comparable to what we're going through with lockdown.
The first is the Honeymoon. You have free time. You gonna learn languages, do yoga etc
Then the Crisis Phase. Which is sort of where we are now. Reality has set in without any sense of when resolution will come. You don't have that much free time (and your kitchen escapades are getting fewer likes every day.) Also you're out looking for a better mop cos KNEES!
The Adjustment Phase. Actually, the kicker. You realise you can't live without a routine & this is the new normal. You stop the 'what if, only if' inner discourse and get what needs to be done done.
It's followed by the Resolution Phase. Make peace with what it is and where you are. And as the curbs lift and we limp back to what will be, you're in a better mental space to handle it.
