Is @PhoenixTVHK a purely private news outlet? Its founder & Chairman Liu Changle, had a deep-rooted relationship with Chinese authority. He worked for the military & mouthpiece China National Radio before, now a member of standing committee of China's top advisory body (CPPCC).

And just as same as state media, #PhoenixTV had helped Chinese authority to broadcast "TV Confession" of multiple political dissidents including several Hong Kong booksellers abducted by Chinese agents, prominent Chinese human rights lawyers caught in mass arrest in 2015.
