Kendrick Lamar's first mixtape was released in 2004 and his first official album was released in 2012 that's a 8 year gap that he filled building himself working on his craft before becoming the phenom that he is today. In those 8 years he put out 6 projects but it's the 6th one
Section. 80, that had the whole world now recognizing what he was doing, that's the one that introduced him to the world a whole new bag of fans. For 8 years he was building a fan base, perfecting his craft, taking so many L's but he was building brick by brick creating his lane
I know times have changed for artists and you don't need 8 years but what doesn't change is the work ethic to be great, building a fan base, perfecting your craft, creating your own lane, building a career and eventually creating good music consistently and one song won't do that
My point is don't chase instant gratification, there are lesson's to be learnt, the journey is the most important thing. There is no such thing as overnight success in music, this thing is a marathon and you gotta practice evryday. You will have good days and bad days, you'll win
and you will lose. You will have a good song and you will have a bad song but you gotta grind till you get to that point where music starts giving back to you. If you give yourself to music, music will give back to you. You owe it to your core fans to work hard, make great music.
