Every time I see RE stuff now, I just think "Why did they ruin Jill???!!!" Damn.

I don& #39;t mind her swearing, her outfit, her being hardened and jaded. But that was ALL she was. There was zero insight into her character. Also, Jill was instantly aggressive/unforgiving to Carlos AFTER forgiving Barry for all he did? Seriously?? Makes no sense.

In the original, she was skeptical but watchful. She was the strength when Carlos was weak. Then helping Carlos survive turned out to save her in the end when she needed help and he was there. It was actually a nice little story. None of that in the remake.

Yes it was romantic but even without romance, it& #39;s a good story about misconceptions, the will to survive, professional experience (Jill was already a survivor, Carlos was unprepared), friendship. I know RE isn& #39;t narrative-heavy but a few conversations would have been nice.

The Birkin story was already pretty heavy and RE2R added even more to it. RE3R had even more room to add narrative because it was focused on only a single character. Hell, some flashbacks to RE1 from Jill& #39;s perspective would have been fantastic.

I don& #39;t care how gorgeous, if a character has no personality, I can& #39;t. Even a bad personality is better than no personality (in fiction).
