i have to art but one day i’ll make a full thread on why, despite my personal conflictive views on him, objectively speaking mu qing might very well be the best written character in tgcf. would i throw him down a pit of legos? yes. would i also go to war for him? absolutely.
lu brought this up on priv tl so i wanna like. talk about it bc he’s so interesting. he’s an asshole but he’s so so sismos so well written and a perfect example of mxtx’s social criticism, ay que se joda, especialmente en la forma en que mu qing desafío las expectativas adscritas
a él desde su nacimiento, refusing to stay behind the shadow of the privileged boy he was meant to serve and instead choosing to make his own path. was the way he did it horrible? yea. but it’s realistic i think
me not knowing how to spell shit in english so switching to spanish mid thread yup
but let’s think about it actually. we see his betrayal as something unforgivable, an act of pure heartlessness. but we think that BECAUSE we’re reading it from xie lian’s perspective. he’s going against the main character, whom we immediately deem as morally correct.
but in a realistic n unbiased perspective, wouldnt we all cheer for mu qing? he’s a poor boy that lived under the shadow of the rich privileged one, despite having similar skills. was he an asshole for wanting build his own path, save his own ass? need to organize my thots bettr
