. @JeffPassan’s story about baseball potential return is bonkers. Some thoughts ...
* oh my god players would spread out in the stands and not sit in the dugout
* yeah, I’m sure that automated strike zone will be just right, no issues whatsoever, in less than two months

* owners, especially those who don’t have the big TV contracts, are really gonna be OK with not getting the gate but paying several more players major leaguers salaries?

* They’re really still trying to come as close to 162 as possible?
* They’re really asking players, coaches, trainers, etc to go only from residence to ballpark and nowhere else for four months, without family?

* forget the baseball; if this country gets widespread COVID-19 test kits that generate quick results — in South Korea, they’re ready in 10 hours or less — i would be ecstatic

Not trying to be cynical, even though I’m sure this comes off that way. There are just a myriad of obvious issues here, which just illustrates how difficult and unique and unimaginable this all is.

A lot of the people I’ve spoken with have brought up the possibility of COVID-19 potentially not thriving in the summer heat, though medical experts are still learning about the virus. They also acknowledged, however, that the window for baseball could be short because of that.
Spoke to a pitcher today who wanted to make sure I put this out there, so here it is: “The best part about the proposal — no catcher visits, and no visits from the pitching coach. That would be awesome.”
