I’m really struggling to think about the idea of an “employer” (for whom I’m actually an independent contractor) telling me I have to be transferred to a remote location they will not reveal to me and not being able to tell my family where I’m going to compete in a violent sport.
The idea is absolute insanity. Things happen on transport, things can happen AT a fight. Are emergency medical facilities available if something happens during my violent sporting event? This is really, really crazy. How do you just “go with it” in this situation?
Even the damn Kumite happened in a major metropolitan area.
This is a blood sport. It’s a sport I love, but it is violent and dangerous and the idea of telling fighters to go to a location where they have no knowledge of the actual goings on and no ability to know about your own safety is crazy beyond anything I’ve ever heard in sports.
And what about flying after a severe concussion? Do fighters live on an undisclosed island for weeks after a horrific knockout to not run the risk of flying after a severe knockout?
The fact I just had to seriously ask that question is .... I don’t know, man
