If you know me you know I grew up in the Adventist church, so just humour me for a bit. This is the reason why I have issues with some of the church's teachings and why I dont attend like I did previously...
The church has it's rules and resultaions set by the Bible and the teachings of Ellen G White (but we not gon talk about her today cause guess what she wasnt even SDA, but I digress). Certain rules are 'bendable' depending on person and situation and what the church deems okay
For example, you're not allowed to wear jewellery except for what is deemed as functional jewellery (watches and wedding bands) that shouldnt be elaborate either. It confuses me then why persons of the faith still wear brooches and fancy watches etc.
Another teaching, and the reason for this thread primarily, is the use of money on the sabbath. The church teaches that one should avoid not only the use of, but conversation regarding to money on the sabbath.
HOW THEN is it okay for the collection of tithe and offerings, and the counting of such, on the sabbath? Why is it okay to discuss the proceeds of the ingathering project on the sabbath, and for persons to take the bus or attend doctor's appointments etc?
A lot of this is ;eft up to discretion. And a lot of persons in the church are chastised for certain behaviour while other things are swept under the rug even though they are equally as contradictory as others
