okay so here’s a full rundown of exactly why tharntype is horrible and any of my mlm oomfs should not watch this bl: (feel free to rt to spread awareness)

this thread is going to cover very triggering topics so here’s a tw // rape, toxic relationships, sexual assault, pedophilia, incest, and extreme homophobia

the fact that there is an EXTREME lack of consent from type. there are many moments type says no to tharn, in which he presses on until type gives in. THIS IS NOT. CONSENSUAL. THIS IS COERCION. this is rape. type says no initially.

there is even a scene in which tharn makes sexual advances to type WHILE HE IS ASLEEP. and gives him hickeys to wake up to as a form of “revenge”. this is in no way okay. its sexual assault. type would have never agreed to that while awake

secondly, their entire relationship is toxic. it begins by tharn coercing type into sex and then they go from there. they are possessive with each other to the point it’s abusive. they do not communicate things thoroughly and many things are left up to assumption. not good.

as for the sexual assault and pedophilia, it is shown later on that type was assaulted as a kid. this explains the trauma type has, of course. BUT it does not excuse him for being extremely homophobic, in which this show tries to shove this belief onto the viewer

there is a moment in the show a random man tries to hit on type, and he lashes out on the man and says Extremely homophobic things abt him to his friend, who is later revealed to be gay as well.

there is a subplot for the side couple .... WHICH BTW ARE LITERALLY BROTHERS. yeah. they’re brothers, no matter how hard they try to swerve around that fact. so yeah

there is a whole arc in which there are two gay people who expose type for being homophobic point blank, AND THEY ARE PAINTED OUT TO BE IN THE WRONG. the show uses these characters to portray many harmful stereotypes of gay men such as them being predatory to straight men

in this arc, the gay people are ridiculed and made to look evil for doing this, tries to get sympathy for type who is completely in the wrong and deserves exactly what he gets. but of course, he comes out on top in the end of the arc. tharn, the gay guy, even STICKS UP FOR HIM

and tells them basically to delete their post abt him bc he has a crush on type. Yes That Actually Happened. the gay guy sticks up for the seemingly straight guy and makes the other gay people look like monsters for “ruining” his life.

this is all i remember but there’s many other problematic instances. it’s just a horrible series and i forced myself to watch through this in order to be able to relay this warning while knowing fully how everything pans out and what all i’ll have to warn ppl of i’m not sure why+

ppl would enjoy this. its made 2 cater towards fujoshis, CLEARLY. but i do not understand y some1 who is mlm wld watch this and want this 2 be used to portray them. its not representation i wld ever ask for/want, it’s insulting &a grossly inaccurate depiction of gay relationships
