Some of my professors are telling undergrads who intend to go to grad school that in order to get a decent reference attached to our transcripts, we have to complete the original syllabus as if our lives weren’t complexified by the pandemic.
I don’t understand this. Why do professors think that students who want to go to grad school are any different than those who don’t right now?? Why, just because we may want to go to grad school, are we expected to perform at the same level as pre-corona?
Shout out to profs who took advantage of the uni allowing them to make the syllabi easier and flexible so that we can prioritize things that are actually important right now.
Like literally the university told you that you could change the syllabus to give students a fighting chance at completing all of the assignments for this semester and you didn’t??? Why????
One of my profs literally told me to suck it up and push through so that I can prove that I’m good in a crisis. To me that means prioritizing mutual aid and the health of my family and community, not showing that I can get an arbitrary “good grade” during a global pandemic.
Anyways, this thread marks the last time I complain about some of my profs’ messed up priorities (though a couple have been really good). In the last ?? weeks, I swear I’ve written more desperate and angry emails than done actual school work
