Because people have asked where they can help in NYC, what I can tell you is that @Citymeals is making sure elderly New Yorkers have access to food, and they're a good, legit organization, with boots on the ground right now.
This one is for the New Yorkers, but my neighborhood Facebook Group (Park Slope) is sending meals to staff at our local hospital from our local restaurants, crowdfunded by residents. If you're looking for a quick, real way to help, check FB for your neighborhood group.
If you're a New Yorker and have recommendations for other places that are on the ground here and doing good work, please feel free to add them to this thread! I'll do some more looking tomorrow, too.
