I got a call from a 74 year old black man looking for his son Bobby to assist him early evening with is cell phone. Bobby and I apparently have similar cellphone numbers. As soon as I said he hello he just started talking."Bobby, look I know you told me to stay in the house but
I done spoke to them people at AT&T 3 times and they said I need wifi to setup my new phone. I am going back out to Flatbush avenue tomorrow. I"m gonna go wait outside the store for them to open. Don't worry, I got my mask. You don't have to come by this weekend to help"
I told him I was not Bobby and I laughed because Bobby is like most of us with our parents now. Trying to get them to stay in the house so they don't catch the Corona virus. He was trying to reach Bobby all day and seemed bummed. He is also
hard of hearing. I could see how him on the phone with an AT&T rep was not working. Told him that I had free time and lets call AT&T. It took 26 minutes with a really patient AT&T rep. We helped direct him through getting his sim card out his Samsung J3 phone and into his
new S7 phone (high comedy for the 10 minutes it took for him to find a paper clip and to open the sim card slot on the S7). 17 minutes in I was regretting my decision He thanked me when it was said and done "I really appreciate the help young man. When the Rona's over
come to Flatbush. I'll buy you dinner and drink. You play Dominoes? Me and my friends drink a little, play dominoes and talk shit" I'm with it.
I told him when he gets in touch with Bobby, tell him his ass owes me a drink. He laughed.
Almost forgot the part that really made me smile. Once he was straight with his phone, he was like hype because he has been without a phone for 4 days. He wanted to get on facebook :)
