Livid does not begin to cover how I feel about WI Republicans’ decision to force tomorrow’s election to continue in-person, against all public health guidance and against @GovEvers’s executive order.
Milwaukee normally opens 180 polling places -- tomorrow, due to fewer staff and vols, they’ll have five. Untold numbers of people have requested absentee ballots and not yet received them – and yet if they’re not postmarked by tomorrow, they won’t be counted.
This is disenfranchisement at its most evil. Forcing people to choose between going to the polls and risking exposure to covid-19 or not exercising their right to vote is beyond irresponsible.
TO SAY THE LEAST.
There was a solution here. Voting by mail and extending the deadline would have allowed Wisconsinites to cast their ballots and ensured the safety of voters and poll workers alike.
