If any country were sure this was true what would they do then? Retaliate with nukes or bioweapons? More likely, a reasonable suspicion would lead to long term defensive measures against Beijing resulting in decoupling, monitoring and a race for space to ensure survival.
Because the virus originated in China the onus was on Beijing was to prove they didn't do it. If a gun in your hand discharges and kills 100K people, it's really on you to show it was an accident. But the CCP has behaved self-righteously and opportunistically. That's damaging.
When countries pick themselves off the floor they're going to want the number of the truck. Politicians will have their hands full after this. It won't be so easy to go back to the old ways. There will be pressure and it will want to go somewhere.
People will feel vulnerable and afraid. Investors will be nervous. A lot of people will never get on a plane or cruise ship for years without a twinge of fear. These reactions are temporarily muted by shock but when the public comes too -- watch out.
When you come right down to it millions are going to wake up very soon to the fact their careers, jobs, little businesses and in some cases their loved ones are gone. Just gone. And on that day virtue signaling or blaming Trump isn't even going to begin to defuse the anger.
