The Society for Political Methodology announces a new undergraduate initiative designed to diversify the field of political methodology by increasing the number of underrepresented students who intend to pursue an academic career in political methodology. 1/n
Funded by the National Science Foundation, a cohort of 8 students will be invited to attend the first summer session of the ICPSR Summer Program from June 22-July 17 and develop their methodological skills by taking a full set of courses (at least two). 2/n
This is an online program and participants will take courses online as well as join a Slack channel organized by the Society of Political Methodology to receive regular mentorship and build community. 3/n
Our expectation is that by studying together, this cohort of students will build a micro-community of excitement and enthusiasm about political methodology while also supporting each other. 4/n
The Society of Political Methodology will continue to mentor/support all students who (at the end of their ICPSR experience) wish to apply to graduate school with an emphasis on political methodology, incl providing up to 4K to conduct political science mentored research. 5/n
Interested students should complete this application form: https://forms.gle/bBZyxyyc61pjh81N7. Preference will be given to those who will graduate in May of 2021 or later. The initiative will cover the costs of Summer Program ICPSR tuition. Deadline April 23rd. 6/n
