Propane Jane: It's the rural areas in the red states where hospitals have been shut down. The rural people don't have anyone fighting for them. They may think it's a hoax but they'll benefit from Dem leaders in cities taking action for them.

Propane Jane: The GOP is very serious about states' rights and local gov't. We see it now & in natural disasters, too. They're willing to take tons of money but they don't want anyone to tell them how to use that money.

Propane Jane: We don't have a union. Even some nurses have some kind of national union but as residents and physicians, we don't have a union.

Rick: We had doctors' unions in the 1950's. Why don't we have them now?
Propane Jane: The last 50 years of politics have been anti-union; physicians are not immune from that. Even though we're leading the team & writing the orders, we're the least protected.

Propane Jane: Policy-wise, things have changed significantly over the last several decades, such as residents' hours have been cut back to something more reasonable. These are for-profit hospitals. Still, we can't ask them to work w/o PPE.
