we should prioritize based on our capacity to administer and on effectiveness of the relief .. I’m disheartened but not surprised that the loans to businesses have rolled out in chaos ... https://twitter.com/arindube/status/1247299101978439683
“first come, first serve” by banks, with basically no federal guidelines on how to handle excess demand, will reinforce and worsen every structural problem ... more concentration of power in large firms, fewer minority and women owned businesses, less in lower income communities
how we administer programs determines if they are a good or a bad program, capacity is so lacking. this Administration gutted its own agencies and is not stepping up to task of complex programs. And state unemployment systems are buckling under pressure ... so what is best now?
much higher federal Medicaid match would pump a lot of money rapidly to the economy. states know local economies and needs better than federal government officials ... no, not perfect, some stares are badly and cruelly administered. some states would use the money well
to be clear, I like the programs in the last relief package, want them implemented immediately and as effectively as possible, I like Arin’s list ... concerned we ain’t gonna get what we want in today’s world, is what it is ... we must work around the dumpster fire in DC
on that cheerful note, I’m going to sleep. rest up and stay healthy ... we’re in it for the long haul
