Alright I’m gonna make a little thread dedicated to talking about details from this little cringe gem of mine so read, so here goes... https://twitter.com/garikwheeler/status/1246872675735285760
To start off, the story was called “Heavenly Sword” which was directly ripped off from the PS3 game of the same name.
In Christianity there’s this idea of “putting on the full armor of god” to protect yourself against sin. One piece of said armor is the “Sword of the Spirit”. This was my story’s version of the Keyblade and where “heavenly sword” came from
Sora became a character named Alex. I ripped this name from the Alex Rider book series, which is still one of my favorite series ever.
Kairi became a character named Brooke. And Riku was turned into two different characters. Alex’s brother, Derek, was Riku’s good side. The other character I don’t remember his name but he was the “good character turns evil” KH1 side of Riku
Organization XIII was replaced by a council of demons who were all ripoffs of Soul Calibur characters
All of their names were different “evil” words put through Google Translate into different languages. For example, one of the most prominent characters was named “Paura” which is “fear” in Italian
Sora’s crown necklace, I replaced with a necklace of a cross (because of course) that Alex wore. Alex summoned his sword the exact same way you summon a Keyblade. And when it disappeared, it was stored in his necklace.
Alex and his brother were orphans because every YA book needs an orphaned protagonist so that we they have a tragic backstory and you also never have to deal with explaining anything about “what are the parents doing during all of this”
Part 1 was about everyone discovering their powers or whatever. Brooke follows in Kairi’s footsteps and gets kidnapped at the end 🤙🏻
Part 2 was about them going into this place that was on the edge of Hell called “The Abyss” to go save Brooke. Guardian angels get introduced in this part. There’s a fight between the heroes and Not-Organization XIII at the end.
Part 3 was about life ending on Earth (im serious). Everyone dies because a big demon invades Earth a kills everyone and then everyone is in the afterlife and they have a big war of Heaven vs Hell, and God kills Satan and all that jazz because I was 11 years old
Alex and Brooke ended up as a couple because of course. I shipped SoKai hard, so they were an obvious extension of that.
There’s a section in Part 2 that is a literal copy and paste of the Deep Dive cutscene. Literally frame by frame retelling in text form.
Alex and Derek’s last name was ‘Christiansen’. This was stolen from Hayden Christiansen bc Anakin Skywalker was super rad and edgy and cool and yknow... CHRISTIANsen. Very subtle. 11 year olds should never be allowed to write stories ever.
I used to make drawings to go with my story. One of the first ones was showing the “battle raging in the spiritual realm alongside the battle on Earth”. The... “battle” on Earth was Alex refusing a cigarette. Yeah. Did I mention I was 11? That also never happened in the story
At the end of Part 2, they save Brooke and return her to her parents and they literally just go “Yeah Brooke was trapped in a demonic prison but we saved her no problem” and her parents are like “ok” and that’s it
A common trope in my writing back then was, whenever I couldn’t think of anything else, to have a scene with food where I described it in excruciating detail, or had a “foreshadowing dream sequence” and it happened constantly and was really dumb
I was obsessed with Guitar Hero and DragonForce when I wrote this. One scene mentions a GH controller and DF poster in somebody’s bedroom. One of the chapters is titled Inhuman Rampage, which is a DF album. Yeah. So. 11 years old.
I mostly wrote the story for fun because I liked writing but it was also because I was like “Kingdom Hearts is my favorite thing but it would be EVEN BETTER if it was a Christian story!” and so I made Christian Kingdom Hearts and it was a 2006 cringefest written by dumb young me
