The "One Dance" issue
1. If your song was sampled legally on another song, you would get songwriting credits. And that's what many FC members failed to realize.
2. Wizkid had originally composed the song before his 'deal' with Drake who went ahead to obtain rights from Kyla to...
....use her song 'Do you Mind'.
3. Since Wiz gave or sold (either way) the song to Drake, it's Drake's song. And all Kyla needed to know what's that Drake wanted to smoke her song and have her on it.
4. Even though Wiz made the song, it wasn't sung verbatim the way Wiz wrote it.
They had to add and remove things from it obviously. Drake and Kyla would add their verses. So the one dance released wasn't the exact version Wizkid composed.
5. There's no proof anywhere that WIZKID wrote Drake's verse. And none of the artists had gone forward to say that.
6. The six songwriters on the song includes Drake, Wizkid and Noah shebib, a Canadian producer and songwriter who produced most if not all of Drake's albums.
And also Kyla, Like Reid and Errol Reid who were given credits because their song 'Do you Mind' was sampled.
The crazy cousins obviously didn't contribute to or appear on One dance but were credited as writers because their song with Kyla was the one sampled.
And Wizkid was also credited as a co-producer on the song.
I hope this would clear some air on the issue. Thanks.
