how many ~unproblematic~ celebrities inevitably being problematic is it going to take before this website realises there is nothing to be gained from holding up millionaire actors as paragons of morality because they haven't done anything wrong yet
Ezra Miller was one of my favourite actors at one point and I'm disappointed that someone so good at creating empathy on screen is in their real life violent and cruel but they are also a millionaire movie star who I had no emotional stake in the goodness of beyond hoping for it
this cycle of "unproblematic" being assumed of any celebrity who isn't actively being harmful is counterintuitive to any understanding we have of how structures of violence are learned and perpetuated and there is no reason why celebrities would be immune to those structures
when Tom Hanks, or Paul Rudd or whoever fucks up next and there's a mad rush to disavow ever having believed otherwise alongside an immediate push to find a replacement what have we learned? that we picked the wrong guys but we'll get it right the next time? or the next time? or
