So let me tell you of my most recent cooking adventure starring BAGELS! You see, my friends, I have just made bagels for the very first time.
I decided I’d make everything bagels, which means I now need everything bagel seasoning! While I might normally make an extra trip to Trader Joe’s, I decided to make my own during a pandemic.
Why try TJs when they may very well be sold out. And it’d also be a second store I’d have to go inside. No thanks.
What’s awesome about the recipe for everything bagel seasoning recipe I found is that it’s all in tablespoons! Freaking simple AF.
So I get it together, make the seasoning, and then re-check my work. That’s when I see it. That’s when I see my foolish oversight, my friends.
The salt was in teaspoons. Since I made a double batch, in tablespoons, I now had 4.5x the salt in the mix.
So…do I toss it and start over? IN A PANDEMIC!? Waste seasoning!? That’d be crazy. So I decided to push forward.
Having now exhausted my ingredients I now have nearly a quart of everything bagel seasoning and still need to add
* 13 tablespoons poppy seeds
* 3 tablespoon white sesame seeds
* 5 tablespoon dried minced garlic
* 5 tablespoon  dried minced onion
So, I do make cooking mistakes. Some tastier than others. Some that end up with 4.5x the desired amount of everything bagel seasoning.
The bagels turned out great, they’re just plain. Next time I’ll have everything ready tho.
Seriously tho. I still have to add THIRTEEN TABLESPOONS of poppy seeds to this.
