I'm a lifelong Wisconsin resident and college student @UWMadison, and tonight's two-fold court decisions by the Wisconsin and US Supreme Court on tomorrow's election have left me essentially disenfranchised. I've voted absentee in nearly every single WI election without issue...
since the 2016 presidential primary, given the distance between my permanent residence in the northern part of the state and my college place in Madison. In late January, I requested my absentee ballots for the February primary and April election. My February ballot arrived...
and I sent it back. I was waiting during the second half of March for my April ballot here in Madison, but it never arrived. After an email, my local clerk said it had been overlooked and that she was sending one out that day. Unfortunately, it was sent to my home up north...
and because of the state legislature's lack of action, the rejection of @GovEvers' postponment plan by the WI Supreme Court, and the US Supreme Court overturning the absentee extension, when my ballot arrived to my apartment at some point this week, it will not be counted...
I am angered and disappointed by these decisions and I know that I am not the only Wisconsinite in this same situation. Tomorrow's election should not be taking place under these public health conditions. /end thread
