Kirishima refuses to allow him to give it all up and insists that he leaves. Angsty airport scene. Their timezones clash so it's very seldom they have the opportunity to video call and when they do its short-lived. Neither is willing to give up on their relationship just yet.

After a year, the texts get shorter. They're drifting apart. Bakugo isn't used to not having Kirishima around anymore. They're a tag team, inseparable. It takes a heavy toll on him. In recent calls with Bakugo, Kirishima took note of his pale complexion and prominent dark circles

It's taken a toll on him too. He smiles less than usual. Bakugo is determined to work hard so that he can go back to Japan, be with Kirishima and give him a good life. Kirishima is determined to see Bakugo no matter the cost.

He takes on gigs and part-time jobs in the city to raise money for a plane ticket. He needs to see his boyfriend. He can't just let their relationship go.

The end of their second year apart comes around and they haven't spoken in a month. Kirishima hasn't lost hope. Despite the cold weather he goes to one of the whole-in-the-wall cafes he and Bakugo went to on the eve of their first Christmas together.

He orders his usual and sits at the very same booth they sat in that day. Maybe he feels nostalgic or melancholy, he couldn't really be sure at the time. He's so preoccupied by his thoughts that he doesn't notice the bell chime and a someone pull out the chair opposite him.

You can imagine his surprise when he looks up to see Bakugo. He's changed so much but his eyes still holds the same adoration for Kirishima as the day he'd realized he was in love.

The money Kirishima worked for goes on his half of the apartment they bought together. Things aren't the same though. Bakugo is more prone to nuzzling his face into Kirishima's neck. He's more fond of stealing Kirishima's hoodies. He makes Kirishima breakfast in bed.

If there's one thing he knows, it's that he never wants to be apart from Kirishima ever again. So he ensures that he isn't the day he slips the gold wedding band on his finger. The day he's abandons his old identity and becomes the person he was meant to be. Kirishima Katsuki.
