I welcome sincere questions and do my best to answer or point to other resources but this nonsense? Who reads my writing & thinks "yeah, she's the perfect person to ask about this"? 😑
PSA: 1) magick is real; it doesn't work because you believe it does, it works because it does. And there are rules to how it works. It would not work if there were not rules. 2) discernment is your friend. If you're not actively practicing discernment in your practice, start NOW.
This is a fabulous example of a lack of discernment on multiple levels. It shows an unwillingness to do research to gain clues to if such is possible & unwillingness to do research to gain clues if the person they're asking is qualified to answer that question.
Showing unwillingness to put in effort to learn witchcraft gives me the worst grrs. Reading a bunch of books & memorizing every correspondence list you find DOES NOT make you a witch. Practicing witchcraft makes you a witch. There's no way to practice without willingness to *do*.
What is discernment in the context of witchcraft? The answer is a little larger than first comes across. Discernment is your ability to tell this from that. It's the skill that tells you this is your energy but that energy is you noticing a spirit presence. But...
...it's also what helps you to distinguish between your own thoughts & emotions and those that you're experiencing because a spirit is communicating with you & that's the primary way it can do so. So discernment is a crucial skill if you interact with spirits.
What gets missed sometimes, though, is that discernment is tied to awareness--which is the single greatest skill you can cultivate as a witch. Awareness is dependent upon your ability to pay attention without judgement or expectations.
Judgments & expectations limit what ur able to experience in a situation bc they create parameters for what u allow urself to acknowledge as part of that experience. Eg: if u tell urself a spirit can only communicate in X fashion, when it responds in Y fashion, ur apt to miss it.
So part of awareness, & this is the part that applies to discernment, is not creating barriers between you & spiritual sensations so that you can more fully & honestly experience what is there to be experienced.
We are our greatest barrier: our thoughts, emotions, expectations, desires, etc. So the other part of discernment that is as necessary & valuable as being able to tell this from that is being able to be objectively aware & to apply that objective awareness externally & internally
What does applying that objective awareness internally mean? It means actively engaging in contemplation & reflection as part of your practice as a witch. It means becoming comfortable with your thoughts & introspection for the sake of the spiritual insight doing so brings.
Spiritual growth may be consequential to the work of witchcraft as opposed to a primary concern, but discernment as a contemplative practice helps us move more smoothly through the spiritual challenges we will find ourselves facing. Deep thoughts are good for you as a witch.
