With libraries all closed down, nobody's tweeting bookmarks, so the purpose of this account feels a little lost 😛

SO I will not feel guilty tweeting about things that feel off-topic to me. Now, here's a thread detailing the process of how I built my mini book shop.

I saw the kit in a Bas Blue catalog back in November, and my mom got it for me for Christmas! I had *not* realized just how involved it was--you literally create every single item and wire it for electricity. Very tiny, fussy work.

It's 1:24, also called Dollhouse or half scale.
I was *really* intimidated by the whole thing, so I decided to just start with making the dozens of tiny books because they seemed like the easiest thing.

So I spent January cutting, folding, and pasting all these tiny 🔖📚📖 (although half scale bookmarks are maybe TOO tiny)
I found the furniture pretty intimidating, but once I started, it was easy to get on a roll! Upholstering a tiny chair was not something I expected to do in 2020 🪑🤔

When I texted this to my parents, they thought it was real furniture and couldn't figure out what I was doing 😅

So this is all the furniture. I loved the ingenuity of what pieces made what--like the wire drawer pulls and handles. The fruit basket is made of beads!
My cataloger genes showed as I had to sort all my miniature books according to the provided labels.

I felt that "RoboTime" was an obvious one for the software section.

The kit isn't designed to treat the books as actually organized by topic, though, so it made it...interesting
One of the last steps was adding pictures and ephemera to the shelves. You can see I'd also started placing some of the more obvious books.

Here was the final setup before electrifying it! I found a librarian doll in 1:24 scale, but haven't yet figured out how to get her hair or clothes...

The books are a little unevenly placed because, again, I insisted on sorting by genre.
I really found it very stressful building the chandelier--the instructions didn't really give me good measurements, so I had to improvise.

Electrifying it in general was a lot of fun, though... nothing like creating light!!
And I may have shared these before, but here's the shop with the lights out!... er, lights on? Either way! Open for business...very tiny business! ❤️📕❤️

I'm planning to add many touches; I found these cryptozoology x-rays on Etsy! They include dragons, unicorns, winged men and horses, and a hippocampus.

Also planning to add tiny mail parcels, doughnuts, candy; also planning to mix and combine props from the coffee shop kit!
And I did share these earlier, but just to conclude the thread--here's the second set, the coffee shop. It was easier for this one to do the frame and electricity first and the props second.

The coffee shop is much more complex than the bookstore. Glad I started where I did!
