shipping has never been about canon. that& #39;s not why we do it. this sudden shift to the idea that you can only ship something if it& #39;s got a high chance of becoming canon is Not Good and definitely steeped in homophobia because it& #39;s only ever queer pairings that see any shit for it
its less that we want a queer ship to become canon and more that we want queer rep from the beginning. we want queer characters set up to develop into a relationship from the outset. no more & #39;will they even be canon& #39; and more & #39;how much pining will they do first& #39; bc its guaranteed
we want to watch shows where we don& #39;t have to wonder and /hope/ the writers are brave enough to write queer characters in relationships only to be disappointed when they& #39;re paired off in het relationships at the last minute. it& #39;s tired and boring. do something else
until then i& #39;m gonna keep making characters queer and shipping them because if showrunners won& #39;t give me representation i& #39;ll make it myself
