Are we going to talk about how latinxs are raised anti-black, and it's not until an individual decides to unpack and unlearn it that there's a change? Once we do that, we're the "controversial" one in the family. You shouldn't wait until you're famous to own up to it & apologize.
When I started my own family, I didn't want to raise them that way so I changed the cycle. I knew better, so I made the choice to do better even though it's caused a lot of problems with my family back home. We can't change our past, but we can prove every day we're not our past.
Though we're raised anti-black, we're also made to believe we're treated as badly as black folks, which brings in the idea that we're allowed to say the n word. Recognizing our privilege is something our community has a huge problem with.
This is not to excuse people who've been exposed, but knowing what happens in our community, it looks like you guys are only sorry & "a changed person" once your career is at risk. If you're not that person, then prove it every day whether you have anyone checking for you or not.
