I finished Resident Evil 3 Remake last night. For the first half, I thought it was okay but DAMN THAT SECOND HALF IS FUCKING GOOD. I think I like it more than RE2 Remake? As soon as the credits rolled, I started a hardcore run cause I wanted more.

It’s true. Some areas have been cut. But revisiting the RPD is one of the highlights of the game. The hospital FUCKS so hard. Easily the best part of the game. And the final lab is fantastic. Also, Jill’s actions in the finale made me have a massive smile on my face.

I do have some issues with it. Though Nemesis is intimidating af when you come across him, he is relegated to very specific moments. It doesn’t feel like you’re being hunted by him. The exploration has been wound back. Which sucks cause I wanted to explore raccoon city.

I was expecting RE3 to expand upon both RE2make and the original RE3. Exploring the city and never knowing when nemesis would appear would have been some pure horror shit. But that isn’t in the game. Though, the moments when nemesis appears is easily a major highlight.

Also CARLOS. I love him in this game. His character is greatly expanded upon since the original. Also his and Jill’s dynamic is one of the best parts of the game. Nikolai is also an actual cool villain. Very one note, but he is such an asshole that I love him.

If it just had some more time in the oven, made the city more open and had nemesis actually stalk the player, I think RE3 could have easily been regarded as one of the best entries in the series. But what we got is a short but very sweet horror experience that I highly reccomend.
