The science isn’t on our side for large gatherings happening in 2020. Period.

The less that that is stated and dealt with the more harmful it will be to artists and small organizations.

LARGE ORGANIZATIONS/ PRODUCERS/ BROADWAY is not what we should be worried about rn.

Thinking realistically abt this, means we think abt artists like the peers I just graduated w, the actors I’ve seen at auditions, the literary departments at all the small theatres that read my work years ago, the security guards / box office managers at regional theatres...

Those people want hope rn but false hope doesn’t do anything but cause strife. (TRUST ME FALSE HOPE WITH THREE DIFFERENT SHOWS HAS FUCKED ME UP AND IM OSTENSIBLY IN A GOOD LIVING SITUATION RN).

I know our industry has only ever subsisted on “THE SHOW MUST GO ON” but...

This time I don’t think it can?

Doesn’t it make more sense that we as an industry COLLECTIVIZE and start a real conversation about pausing our summer and fall shows NOW and figuring out how we can help all of us get to the year 2021 and on stronger than ever?

If we screw over the little guys in favor of seeing more of the ppl on top doing well then we won’t have any ppl to rise to the top in two years, three years or four years when we need them.

This isn’t fun to tweet but it’s what I feel and I think we all have to be having more real conversations about this.
