The simplest and truest explanation for why Bernie Sanders lost the Democratic primary is that most voters didn’t want to vote for him. Any analysis that evades that fact is bad analysis.
I also have to pause at any analysis that takes for granted that Democratic voters, who are majority female and racially diverse, can't be assumed to have autonomy.
I think Democratic voters picked the wrong candidate — Warren was the right choice, as far as I'm concerned. But I don't need a conspiracy to tell me why she lost. People didn't vote for her. 🤷‍♀️People have their reasons, even if they aren't good ones.
