Gov McMaster is here with another update.

Mandatory order: “Home or Work Order.” Goes into effect tomorrow at 5 pm. Says everyone should stay home unless they’re working, visiting family, recreating outside, or getting essential goods. It is a crime not to.

Stores will be limited to 20 percent capacity of customers there at a time, based on the Fire Marshal.

McMaster says the rate of non-compliance is on the rise, and that’s why he’s mandating now. Hopes this mandate will reduce rate of infection and job loss.

Says by the end of this week, they expect to have over 200,000 people who have applied for unemployment insurance in S.C. @wis10
He’s urging the General Assembly to come back to work on Wednesday and “get it done.” He is recommending that churches live stream Easter services or to meet outdoors. If meeting indoors, he asks that they social distance. @wis10
Dr. Bell is speaking now. Reporting 183 new cases of COVID-19 today. Says private labs around the nation are having delays, and not everyone has been tested, so those factors will impact the numbers we’re seeing. @wis10

Director Davidson speaking now about masks. Says masks are optional, but may reduce the spread of the virus. Says S.C. residents ***SHOULD NOT*** run out and buy masks. Save manufactured masks for healthcare workers. Recommends homemade masks for citizens. @wis10
Says masks are to help protect others, and you should still stay at home and isolate if you are ill. @wis10
General McCarty is speaking now about the S.C. National Guard. Says they have created a tiered plan that expands the hospital footprint outside of their facilities.

Says 3,500 potential COVID patients could need hospitalization in the early part of May. @wis10
Says they plan to add an additional 3,000 hospital beds by no later than May 5. Says that would give them approximately 9,000.

Says this is a contingency plan. @wis10
Dr. Eric Ossman from Prisma Health is speaking now about how they are working with the Guard. Says they want to extend the capacity of their existing healthcare system. Tent medical facilities may pop up & facilities like coliseums may be converted to accommodate the sick @wis10
Gov. McMaster says they’re trying to soften the economic blow, and help people get back to work when the time comes. @wis10
McMaster says they want to make sure what they’re doing is within the framework and the guardrails set up by the Constitution. Says they’re trying to protect the health of the people while doing that. @wis10
Says they don’t want to go any further than necessary to protect the people without infringing on their constitutional rights. @wis10
Says he’s not going to tread on the 1st Amendment. But he’s recommending churches live stream. @wis10
Says a violation of his Work or Home mandate could cost you up to 30 days in jail. Says people weren’t complying, and traffic went up +20 percent in some places. @wis10
Gov. McMaster says gun stores will remain open as essential businesses because residents have their 2nd Amendment right. @wis10
Dr. Bell says projections show they may see peak in deaths in the first part of May. This is based on a range of “best case scenario, and worst case scenario.” Their hospital tier plan is set in the middle of that. @wis10
