While John heard the conquering lion of Judah, he "saw" the slain lamb (Rev 5:5, 6). Likewise, when John "heard" the twelve tribes of Israel arrayed for war, he looked and "saw" a multitude from every tribe, tongue, and nation arrayed not for war but for praise (Rev 7:4 9).
In both cases, Revelation corrects our expectations. The lamb conquers through the cross. The kingdom expands through worship, not war.

The old covenant's nationalism has faded, and now the world has become a kingdom of priests to God and the lamb.
Better: the multitude within the world...
