MERCY REMIX - LIL WAYNE & NICKI MINAJ (G.O.O.D MUSIC RESPONSE?)
It is important to note the tensions that were brewing between YMCMB and Kanye’s G.O.O.D. MUSIC crews at the time. The timeline is as follows:
2002: Birdnan and Pusha T collaborate on “What Happened To That Boy” while Wayne appeared in the video.

2006: Wayne appears on VIBE cover wearing the iconic Bathing Ape hoodie which until then was associated with Clipse (Pusha T and No Malice) and their mentor Pharell.
Later that year Clipse and Pharrell dropped their single “Mr. Me Too” which went at copycats and people who jack the styles of other rappers. While rocking BAPE. Jeez.
Wayne took offense and said in a December 2006 interview with Complex: “I thought that Mr. Me Too video was about me, to tell you the damn truth. They think I want to be like them. I’m on a million dollar bus going around the world@charging people from $50k-$150k for verses....”
He goes on to say “you think I’m trying to be like you? No sir. They had to do a song with us to get hot, B.”

The men continued to go at each other and have tension for many months which rose when Wayne collaborated with Kanye on “Barry Bonds” from Kanye’s 2007 album Graduation.
Kanye also produced two tracks on Wayne’s Carter III. Later that year the two appeared with T.I. and Jay Z on “Swagga Like Us”. Fast forward to 2010, after appearing on Kanye’s single “Runaway” on MBDTF Pusha T was officially signed to GOOD Music.
Now that he was Team Yeezy, Pusha seemed ready to put the beef with Wayne behind him. “Free Weezy! congrats my nigga” he rapped on 2011’s “Open Your Eyes” shorty after Wayne got sent to Rikers. So much for all dat fake love.
The internet was buzzing when Pusha spit a freestyle in Oct. 2011 over Drake’s “Dreams Money Can Buy” saying “niggas sophomores acting like they boss lords.” Trey was also on the hook of Drake’s “Successful” which Pusha also references.
Drake responded on a Funk Flex interview saying “If it’s directed at me, just make it a little more direct next time. I’m up for whatever.” This is when shit hit the fan. All hell broke loose when Pusha dropped Exodus 23:1 in 2012
“Contract all fucked up, I guess that means you all fucked up. You signed to one nigga that signed to another nigga. That's signed to three niggas, now that's bad luck” Similar remarks were made about Nicki years later by felon falsely claiming she had a 360.
What Pusha failed to realize is that Nicki and Drake’s contracts were not that of regular new artists in that they retained all of their 360 rights and got multi million dollar bonuses for signing to Universal. We see who the richer artists are even though Pusha been in it longer
Wayne fires back with “Ghoulish” and tweeted the iconic “fuck Pusha T” tweet. Ghoulish was a scathing diss track aimed openly at Pusha T. In an interview Pusha T called it “trash” yet somehow denied Exodus was about YMCMB 🤡
“Born Stunna Remix” ft. Nicki, Birdman and Wayne was released and Nicki for the first time directly went at Pusha T as far as I can recollect.

“Roll the kush up. It’s a chess/chest game, but fuck a push up/Pusha”. Nicki as always is showing her loyalty to YMCMB and Wayne.
It is important to note the chess reference because Nicki is referred to as Queen and Pusha calls himself King Push. Queen has the most power on a chessboard. Chess not Checkers.
Push up is also playing off the previous line of working out and crunch time in reference to careers not working out at “crunch time” which is the most crucial point in a sports game of life in general. Also in reference to exercise. She is referring to him her entire verse.
Now for Mercy. Nicki’s verse is fascinating because it builds from scattered feminist flips of Big Sean (“Drop it to the floor, make that dick shake” instead of “Drop it to the floor, make that ass shake”) then into one of her classic, frenzied fast-raps.
“Cause all you niggas fake & all you niggas broke, so all you niggas FUCK YOU, all you niggas choke. Cause all you do is boat & argue over hoes, so all you niggas toast because all y’all deepthroat word. Fuck your Lambo, fuck your Murc(ielago) I got more money in my fuckin purse”
Nicki boldly states the male GOOD Music members (and most male rappers in general) are one track minded and 1 dimensional in that they talk about money they don’t have, girls they ain’t hit and fight over girls they can no longer have.

See: Lookin Ass Nigga for a reiteration.
“Court side, you in the C-section, I’m with them bloods, you with the C-section. In Malibu I’m by the sea section, and all you bitches is my sons, yeah, C-section.” Nicki uses her famous trope of double and triple meanings utilizing homophones.
She’s courtside at the basketball game while her competition is in a much further back section. She states she’s with bloods while the “other” roll with crips. She then she is by the sea section in Malibu where she wrote and recorded this verse & ends with a cesarean section bar
“‘I’m a republican voting for Mitt Romney’You lazy bitches is fucking up the economy”

Nicki caught a lot of flack for this bar because people actually thought she was voting for Romney that election year instead of Obama. It is important to note that the first bar is a quote.
Nicki is mocking republicans saying voting for Romney would mess up America and it’s economy. Fast forward to Republican pres. Trump we see she’s a prophetess. She has stated she is for Universal Healthcare even tweeting Obama to expand Obamacare.
President Obama himself commented on the song, chalking up the remark to be from one of Nicki’s characters. Later the same day, Minaj confirmed her true support for the Obama campaign:

“Dropped a freestyle and I got a shout out from Obama” - Nicki on I’m Legit (2013)
