Time for a thread about a movie I will never watch again:
When I was 7 years old, I went with my mom and sister to see The Grudge in theaters. It was the first horror movie I ever saw, but also the only movie to ever scar me for life
The movie itself is terrifying (just google image search the grudge and you’ll be creeped out) but it also didn’t help that our theater was nearly empty except for one other family, and the film projector kept malfunctioning, so the screen went black a few times (very spooky)
I had trouble sleeping for a good few years after seeing that movie—just couldn’t get the images of the little boy on the stairs out of my head, or the scene where one of the characters is dragged to her death from under the covers of her bed.
Also the fact that our attic was directly above MY bedroom
After all this, I vowed to never watch The Grudge again, and I never saw the sequels. However, I eventually came to love horror movies and shows about the paranormal—but nothing else gave me that same feeling of pure terror just being in my own home
Anyways, a couple weeks ago I saw an ad for the new Grudge movie that came out in January and last night I was thinking, “it’s been 16 years, I’m sure if I watched the original movie again now, I could laugh at it”
So I watched the trailer to refresh my memory and...NOPE. That shit is CREEPY and traumatizing even at 22 years old! I couldn’t fall asleep because I watched the TRAILER.
If you made it this far, I hope this thread gave you a good laugh. And if you haven’t seen The Grudge (2004), DON’T.
