Rarely have I disclosed sth personal here, but tonight I want to tell sth about my dad & my experience at a hospital tonight.

1/ My dad has become a *suspected* case of #COVID19.
He has been ill for a few days. I was told that he's having some symptoms of pneumonia but no fever
2/ My retired dad, well basically my family hasn't been to anywhere outside of HK this year. We do what we are supposed to do under this global pandemic:
- Stay at home & avoid unnecessary social contact
- Wear a mask
- Wash our hands
- Spray everything with disinfectant
3/ The thing is my dad shops for groceries twice a week. Sometimes my mum & maid do so. At least I think it's necessary. We still need to eat. So, he's been outside of our house. We don't know if he has EVER contacted anyone with the virus on the street by chance.😩
4/ I stayed at the hospital for around 4 hours this evening. You may wonder how a public hospital looks like (the one I visited only, FYR)
- Body temperature checking at the entrance
- Unusually quiet at A&E
- Medical workers are still busy, of cos they are...😰
5/ We are still waiting for the result from the hospital. The result will be released by tomorrow afternoon.

Wait, what? I thought our govt would provide rapid diagnostic testing for every suspected patient. Surprisingly, I was told by a nurse that the govt provides none.
6/ The procedure of testing is still slow. We have to wait at least 9 hours to get if a suspected patient's result is positive or negative (well it's what that nurse told me tonight.)
7/ I was in the isolation ward. (Visiting patients is prohibited now but I sent my dad there so I could stay for a bit) I asked a nurse some questions but he went for a rant about how inexcusable of govt to me. It's just different from reading their feelings on social media/news
8/ He emphasized there are insufficient medical workers & limited medical supplies but the number of confirmed cases is just exponentially increasing. HK govt still does nothing effective.

During our short conversation, another patient was delivered. He sighed deeply.
9/ So far I'm fine. I've washed everything & disinfected myself/my belongings thoroughly. I hope my dad is not diagnosed with #COVID19, yes it's aka #WuhanVirus/ #ChinaVirus too. Sadly I got a call from the hospital which was my dad's condition deteriorated. I'll hope for the best
So, my purpose of writing this thread is not just telling the condition of my dad but also I hope everyone can stay alert all the time. There's no fluke. 😔
