This was my first #Maniratnam movie in theatre that too on first day because I'm a #karthi fan, eagerly waiting to see him in "A MANIRATNAM film" My expectations was super high

First of all its a dream combo with a wonderful romantic script from #Maniratnam - genius like #ARR, #Ravivarman, #Vairamuthu and his son #madhankarky - with Best actors #Karthi and #aditiraohydari

Plot was set in Srinagar during Kargil War 1999, about IAF fighter pilot Varun Chakrapani (VC) and Dr. Leela Abraham. Both polar opposite characters fall in love with each other , one who wielding bombs, other saves life.

Leela knows about VC from her brother who died in the plane which VC was supposed to go. She had some infactuation and feelings then. Here he is her first patient she spent a whole day caretaking him.

VC has self centred egoistic character he has been deeply affected by his childhood memories bec of witnesses domestic abuse in his house. Even though he hates his father he got some qualities inherited from him, that reflects in love with Leela.

In a hospital scene when he argues with his father for abusing his mom at the same time he tries to shut Leela.

Leela , an independent doctor who comes allway to Srinagar to work. She is blindly in love makes her timid and innocent in some parts of the movie.

He continuously insults her many times infront of his fellow mates
"I don't like man who man handle woman "
"So a woman can't speak or have a opinion or become a fighter pilot"
Men and women , we're made differently."
"Man's natural instinct is to hunt , we're designed that way"

And then he realises and apologize her
Leela :"You treat me like a slave, like ur pet dog I can't do that and I have self respect I want an equal relationship"
VC :We are not same
"I'm beneath you are far superior to me"

"See? Didn't I tell you she will come back? Will you ever find a girl like this? That's my girl"

Both their character arc are excellently portrayed in the movie. Both are powerful characters in the movie. Leela provides love to be the light in the VC's darkness. That's love

Nidhi: I have a crush on u
U like Leela ,Leela likes VC
VC likes only VC
Ilyas :Then Y Leela is still in that relationship?
Nidhi :That's Love

VC is deeply scared inside bec of his characteristics. Especially in the mirror scene when Leela tells him she is pregnant , he smiles embracing her and he looks himself in the mirror, suddenly his look changes hates himself ,then he says he can't be a perfect father

bec he realises who he actually is and doesn't want the child to grow like him. He didn't hate Leela for pregnant it's because he can't be a good father to the child.That time she decides to move from this relationship.

She wants to stay in this relationship even though she knows , when she says he either treat her like a princess or throw her on ground and stomp.
All she wants an "equal" relationship and willing to forgive a man to certain extent and then decides to leave.

"After being captive, I have realised how to share a life, Leela.
Before I thought only about myself now I care about others.I know now how precious you are to me."

After so much he goes through in pakistan, war and seperation from Leela that realisation and redemption he goes in search for her and after finding her, he doesn't try to win her over and he respects her decision by not trying to change her but just to apologise.

This change made Leela to accept VC back with suprise Rohini their daughter.

The movie doesn't encourage abusive relationship on contrary it tells us to seperate from those relationship and never go to them back unless there is reasonable change in that partner.

#Karthi pulled off this role like cake walk with his tomned physique sans moustache with charming and romantic attitude, as usual any of previous roles as director's actor provides what the film needs with cheeky Bharathiyar quotes

#AditiRaoHydari debut role , was so much pretty and cute , gave wonderful mind- blowing performance overall. She believed in director so much as she said in one of her interview "I can even jump off from roof when he says"

ARR gives us a love-filled album
the beautiful “Nallai Allai”
Heavenly melody “Vaan”
Insanely addictive “Azhagiye”
Full on wedding feel of “Saarattu Vandiyila” Electric “Jugni”

In addition to these wonderful songs, the background score is equally brilliant. The one in the escape sequence during interval and especially Jugni which is an electrifying experience. His music is an integral part of the film just as his previous work with maniratnam.

#Ravivarman stunning cinematography elevated the movie and its songs by several notches.
