I’m so tired of this take. There are very good reasons to keep in-person voting as an option. People who do not have a consistent mailing address still need to be able to vote. Postage is not free. And women with controlling/abusive partners need access to a secret ballot. https://twitter.com/joyannreid/status/1247160483343405058
Anyone who has organized has met:

- Homeless folks registered at an address they can’t receive mail at
- Students who couldn’t buy stamps for their ballot
- Husbands who say “we vote Republican” only to later speak with their wives who confide in you that they vote for Democrats
Mail ballots are easier for many people & we should vastly expand access to mail-in voting regardless of this pandemic. But unless we also do automatic voter reg, postage-free ballots, send ballots automatically (no requests) & still offer an in-person option, it’s not equitable.
