had an interview that was supposed to be about fiction podcasting but, as all of my interviews now, turned into me talking about how all art in America is going to disappear for probably a decade or more after this is over unless the government bails out artists
so anyway. artists need a bail out if you want there to be books or music or live shows of any kind afterwards. Those things would eventually come back, but I'm being optimistic when I say it'll take at least ten years if nothing is done. The infrastructure will be just gone.
Every theater, gone. Every bar or restaurant that hosted events, gone. The entire infrastructure of booking agents and promoters that allowed tours to happen, gone. Bookstores, gone. Without a bailout, the things you love in this country will be gone for a long, long time.
