gonna gush rq about my hero and why i love it. and why you should watch it if you haven’t yet. [a thread]
From the first episode we’re introduced to our protagonist, and a world where super heroes are normal. Funny enough our protagonist is one of the rare handful of people that has no powers.
I just love the drive and persistence Deku has. Even with no powers he still wants to be a hero. There’s many messages in my hero that i dig deeper to understand.
Then we get introduced to other characters who’s backstories are real, tangible, sometimes heart wrenching. For example Todoroki (coolest character btw) his power is right side fire left side ice. (Meg the Stallion cosplayed him) but anyway his story...
His father used to beat his mother. Used to pretty much torture him and he resents him for it. The whole series you see the relationship develop. From him hating him to only recently (4 seasons in) him starting to care again for his father after his father almost dying.
How my hero makes you care, is it’s great writing. It’s compelling. Moves you. Makes you root for cartoon characters as if their real life friends of yours. Idk if I’ve ever been drawn into an anime like that lol and i watch a bunch
Idk i’m just bored honestly and think people look at anime as a “cartoon” when really if you can get pass “animals talking” or “weird looking villains” you’ll find so many messages about life and how you can apply it to your own life. It’s inspiring.
Especially this last episode. Todoroki’s father Endeavor basically almost died defending a city from a villain. Before killing the villain he says “you are me, from my past, or another future...be put to rest” then blows then kills the villain...

The symbolism in that is just so aahhhdjjdnieidjejjejdujf bro we all have things we need to get rid of in our past that can ultimately shape a better future for us and prevent a future version of our self from being fearful or depressed or suicidal...the message in that was

Ok I’m done lmao I’m in quarantine and bored y’all don’t mind me
