Jasmine is a 48-year-old Black trans woman being held in Sacramento County Jail. She was set to be released from prison, after serving 15 years in state prison, to the TGIJP re-entry program on 3/27/2020.

Instead, She was released to the custody of federal Marshals on a 20+ year old federal probation violation.

Jasmine has been an inside leadership team member at Transgender Gender-Variant & Intersex Justice Project for over a decade. She is a beloved member of the community and needs to get out of the jail that is housing her in isolation on a men’s unit.

Jasmine has not received any of her prescribed medications since arriving at Sacramento County Jail on March 22nd and the jail refuses to update Jasmine’s records to reflect her legal name and gender.

COVID is projected to be devastating in jails and prisons across the United States. On Monday, April 6, at 2pm Jasmine will have her next court hearing.

We need to show the prosecutor and probation officer that Jasmine has the support of the community and that she should be released to @TGIJP’s re-entry program—where she will receive housing where she can shelter in place, employment, and wrap around services—immediately.
