SUICIDAL THOUGHTS AREN’T ON LOCKDOWN.

Yes, we’re dealing with Covid-19 but let’s also not turn a blind eye on those who aren’t getting the most of our attention right now but also dealing with something that could lead to death, if we aren’t cautious.
SUICIDE & SUICIDAL BEHAVIOR.

Suicide is best defined as the intentional taking of ones life.

TYPES OF SUICIDAL BEHAVIOR.

1. Suicide threats- this usually takes place before an actual suicide attempt. Includes statements such as, “I just can’t take it anymore”
“will you remember me when I’m gone?”
“Take care if my family for me”.
This is an indication that the person can’t make up his mind but is thinking of suicide.

2. Suicide gesture- a.k.a “A cry for help”.
The individual carefully thinks out the ways in which he may be rescued
from his suicide attempt. The methods most frequently used in a Suicide gesture are superficial cutting of wrists and single drug overdose.

3. Suicide attempts- this includes any actions taken by the individual toward himself that will lead to death if not interrupted.
4. Died by suicide- well this is self explanatory.

The purpose of this thread is to make us more sensitive to the folks around us, physically and virtually. We are all going through difficult times now due to the Covid-19 and some people don’t have the emotional capacity to
handle this. It is our duty to look out for them and ensure they don’t get to number 4.

IMMEDIATE DANGER SIGNS OF SUICIDE INTENT.

1. Insomnia.
2. Inability to concentrate.
3. Loss of appetite.
4. Apathy/ social withdrawal (could be virtual too)
5. Poor personal hygiene
6. Crying.
7. Feelings of worthlessness.
